There are 5 possible user statuses: Active, Pending, Suspended, Locked and Deleted.

  • Active: user will be able to use all TeleMessage services that were defined for him.
  • Pending: User will not be able to login to the TeleMessage system and perform any actions. This status is initiated by the system when a new user is created and was not yet approved by the user administrator.
  • Suspended: User will not be able to login to the TeleMessage system and perform any actions. This status is initiated by the user administrator for various reasons.
  • Locked: User will not be able to login to the TeleMessage system and perform any actions. This status is initiated by the system in the following cases: multiple password reset attempts or failed login attempts and billing problems.
  • Deleted: User does not exist anymore in TeleMessage systems. User will not be able to login to the TeleMessage system and perform any actions.

This is a unique TeleMessage feature. In case IP push notifications can’t be delivered through your data plan or Wifi, the message is then sent as a standard SMS text message.

You will be charged for SMS Fallback messages. You need to make sure you have message credits in your account to ensure that this feature works. Purchase message credits here

Concatenated SMS messages allow a phone to send messages longer than 160 characters. The sender composes a message normally, however, behind the scenes, the phone detects the message length. If the message is less than or equal to 160 characters, the phone sends a one standard SMS message. However, if the message is greater than 160 characters, the phone automatically divides the longer message into multiple, shorter SMS messages which are then transmitted to the recipient separately.

The recipient’s phone takes these multiple, shorter SMS messages and recombines them into the original message which was sent. Because the individual segments of the complete message need to be recombined in this way, this is referred to as ‘concatenated SMS’. In order to achieve this seamless delivery, additional information is added to each individual concatenated SMS message. This additional information, referred to as the user data header (UDH), provides identification and ordering information. For example, the UDH could relate the three individual concatenated SMS messages to each other, and indicate the order for recombination.

Character Count Thresholds

The character limits for individual concatenated SMS messages results in various thresholds for which additional individual concatenated SMSmessages will be required to support sending a larger overall message:

GSM encoding:

  • 1 standard SMS message = up to 160 characters
  • 2 concatenated SMS messages = up to 306 characters
  • 3 concatenated SMS messages = up to 459 characters
  • 4 concatenated SMS messages = up to 612 characters
  • 5 concatenated SMS messages = up to 765 characters
  • etc. (153 x number of individual concatenated SMS messages)

UTF-16 encoding (including special characters):

  • 1 standard SMS message = up to 70 characters
  • 2 concatenated SMS messages = up to 134 characters
  • 3 concatenated SMS messages = up to 201 characters
  • 4 concatenated SMS messages = up to 268 characters
  • 5 concatenated SMS messages = up to 335 characters
  • etc. (67 x number of individual concatenated SMS messages)

These thresholds are an important consideration for a number of reasons including billing, and the programmatic interfacing with SMSgateways.

Generally, telephone companies count individual concatenated SMS text messages separately even though they are being recombined at the phone into a single message. This means a message containing 180 characters could potentially invoke a charge for two SMS text messages, even if the sender/recipient only sees a single message.

The TeleMessage platform lets you choose up to the maximum number of concatenated SMS messages you would like to send. Note that if you send a message with more characters than the threshold limit, your message will be cut off. For example, if you send a message with more than 459 characters, but only allow up to 2 concatenated messages, your message will be cut off at 306 characters and the recipient will not receive the entire message.

You can messages with alphanumeric sender IDs through our web interface, the XML API or the REST API. If you would like to enable this feature in the web interface, please contact us first

Once you’ve been approved to send messages with alphanumeric IDs, go to Settings > Preferences and you will see the option enabled: 2015-04-01_13h09_46

If you would like to change the name displayed, go to Settings > User Profile to change your FIRST name (only what you set as the first name will be displayed as the sender ID).

In XML, use the following code:

AlphanumericSender – the value of tag/element is the company name. The maximum allowed length of the AlphanumericSender value is 13 characters (digits and/or English characters).

If you wish, you can do it before uploading the Excel file: highlight the column, then press the “Data” tab and then “Delete Duplicates”.

Yes, you can!

1. You can either export from your Contact’s in Outlook 2000, 2007, 2010, or 2013.

You can create the same address book for different users manually. But updating one address book will not update another address book.

The character limit for SMS messages is 160 characters. Therefore a SMS message that was 320 characters is actually three separate messages although it was sent as one message (based on your preferences).

Go to View Usage. You’ll be able to see the different types of messages you sent, date and time of sent messages, how much it cost per message (IP messages are free!), to whom, the status of the message, and the duration of the message.

The same as sending a message to a single contact. Go to Compose. Enter the name of the group or distribution list in the “To” field.

Go to Address Book > enter “New Group Name” and press the plus symbol. To add contacts to the Group: go to the individual contact(s) in your address book and update which groups they should belong to for both SMS and voice messages (“Mobile phone”).

18

Go to Address Book > New Contact. You can also import a CSV file of contacts that you would like to add to your address book.

Your User Type was changed but your quick-texts did not disappear. Contact support.

The “Name” of your quick-text cannot contain more than 50 characters. If it is longer than 50 characters, the quick-text will not save.

You can add up to 20 templates.

Go to Settings > Advanced > Quick Text. Press Add at the bottom of the screen to add a quick-text.

Go to Compose. Find the calendar icon at the bottom of the page. Set the date and time you would like the message to go out.

Go to Preferences > Voice > Set Voice Prefix.

Go to Settings > Preferences > Replies and determine where you would like replies to be directed. You can choose to receive a voice message in return, email or SMS messages.

Call the Compose Line. Record your message. Choose the correct index so that it will be sent to your email.

In order to avoid sending a blank page, make sure there’s no text in either the “Subject” or “Text” fields.

While composing a fax message, enter text into the “Subject” and “Text” fields.

Choose “Compose”. Enter the fax number(s) in the “To” field. Attach the document you would like to fax.

Login to the web interface. In the left hand side menu, go to Settings > Preferences > Message Flow. Choose “IP  send SMS fallback after X minutes if IP messaging has failed.” You can determine after how many minutes you would like any failed IP message to fallback to SMS.

Login to the web interface. In the left hand menu, go to Settings > Preferences > SMS Template. Choose either the “Long” or “Short” template. Press Update. This feature only works for SMS messages, not IP messages.

Yes, multiple users can share the same account but you might encounter certain inconsistencies, for example if different users keep changing the settings.

Through TeleMessage you can send two types of voice messages: pre-recorded voice messages that are delivered as calls and text-to-speech messages that are delivered as calls.

  1. Login to the web interface. In the left-hand menu, choose “Compose”.
  2. Enter the mobile or landline number(s) in the “To” field.
  3. Either add an attachment of a pre-recorded audio file or compose in text format the message that you would like delivered.

You can add .wav files up to 3 MB and should be in 11Khz format.

Login in to the web interface. In the left hand menu, go to Compose. Enter the phone number(s) or email address(s) that you want to send IP, SMS, voice, fax or email messages to.

No problem. Go to web interface login page and choose “Forgot Password”.
